Irritable bowel syndrome may be the result of a bacterial or viral infection, exposure to constant psychological stress, or eating some types of foods that cause irritable bowel syndrome. These foods include:

Milk products for those who suffer from lactose intolerance - wheat products for those who suffer from gluten allergy - sugars - fast food - fried foods - soft drinks - legumes.

Recommendations to avoid irritable bowel syndrome:

- Chew food well to facilitate the digestion process.

- Reduce eating fried foods, fast foods, and fatty meals because they stress the colon and saturate it with fat.

- Do walking for half an hour daily.

- Eliminate psychological and nervous pressures and tension as much as possible.

- When eating legumes, it must be prepared in a good way, which is to soak the grains for 12 hours and change the soaking water during this period before starting to cook the legumes, whether beans, lupine, chickpeas, white beans, or cowpeas.

- Eat foods that increase beneficial bacteria in the intestines, which are yogurt, and half a teaspoon of yeast powder, sour milk, and pickles that have been pickled naturally with rock salt can be added to it.

- Avoid taking laxatives without medical supervision so that this does not lead to sluggishness of the digestive system.

- Drink daily drinks that help digestion, such as cumin, fennel, anise, caraway, bitter frankincense infusion, ginger, turmeric, warm water with lemon, or water with a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar.

- Do not fill the stomach, and it is recommended to divide meals into small portions at long intervals.

- Avoid eating late or right before bed.

- Despite the benefits of fiber found in leafy vegetables as well as fruits, increasing it may cause intestinal cramps, especially for those who suffer from irritable bowel syndrome. Therefore, it is recommended to reduce the intake of leafy vegetables for those who have a history of irritable bowel syndrome.

- Drink plenty of water, at least 2.5 liters, as it helps clean the digestive system
