British newspapers published news of Hill's death early on Sunday morning, according to what his agent, Lou Coulson, confirmed to the BBC.


In "Titanic," Hale played Captain Edward Smith, one of the only characters based on a real person in the 1997 tragic romance starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. The film also won 11 Oscars.


In 2002, he joined the "Lord of the Rings" film series directed by Peter Jackson, where he played the role of King Theoden, and appeared in the films "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" and "The Lord of the Rings". "The Return of the King" in 2003, which also won 11 Oscars.
